We live in times of anthropogenic climate crisis. Or do we? This essay shows how “humanity” is a thoroughly modern fetish forged the bloodbath militarized accumulation and conquest after 1492. To say that Anthropos drives crisis implicates historical actor does not exist. But reality different. Humanity nothing. Specific groups humans make history – empires, classes, religious institutions, armies, financiers. reveals Anthropocene as more than lousy although flight from world crucial. It argues today’s one pillar Environmentalism Rich. rooted historically Civilizing Project, and, recently, post‑1970 “Spaceship Earth” environmentalism. Both its recent craze have sought to thing above all: deflect blame capitalism prime mover From beginning, avoided “naming system.” Only by identifying capitalogenic “made humans” can we begin forge an effective socialist politics justice.
